Looking west and up at the cliffs and slopes leading up to Haleakala's highest point (the highpoint itself is not visible). If you look very closely at the large version of this image, you can just make out the tiny square of the upper visitor center, perched along the rim. Taken along the Sliding Sands Trail at about 8,000 feet.
