This is a Haleakala Silversword, or Argyroxiphium sandwicense, subspecies macrocephalum. This particular subspecies is only found in Haleakala National Park. It, like many other native Hawaiian plants and animals, almost went extinct before conservation efforts managed to return its status to 'Vulnerable'.
