The Kalalau Trail leads through a gate-like opening between two outcroppings of basalt (the one on the right is known as 'Space Rock'). On the other side of the opening is the Hoolulu Valley. This is the highest elevation one reaches along the Kalalau Trail - 800+ feet ASL.
