The masterpiece and possibly the highlight of the entire tour of the Vatican Museums: the brilliantly-restored ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. Painted by Michelangelo between 1508 and 1512 (and only by Michelangelo alone) when he was in excess of sixty years old.
