This is one of the official rest stops along the Bright Angel Trail. This one is called 3-mile house (because it's, unsurprisingly, 3 miles down from the trailhead). In the hot months (May onwards), there's drinking water available here. Note the ominous warnings on the sign - unprepared people often come down this trail.
