The Pala d'Oro
This is the Pala d'Oro in the Basilica of San Marco in Venice. It is a fabulously intricate (and no doubt, unthinkably valuable) gold and enamelled altarpiece, and has approximately 2,000 precious stones studded within it. It is very Byzantine in it's style.
