Graceful Columns
The basalt that comprises Devil's Tower has cooled and fractured into a structure called "columnar jointing". This type of structure is particular to very slow-cooled basalt, and can be seen in other places in the world, just as the Giant's Highway in the British Isles and Devil's Postpile in California. Nowhere is it better represented than here, however.
