The Gear List page allows you to generate a nicely formatted, easy-to-read list of items that are needed when preparing for outdoor activities such as hiking and climbing. The Gear List is flexible: you can choose to hide items that you are not interested in taking on a particular trip, and you can create a permanent profile that can hold extra items of your choosing.

The Gear List page consists of a number of sections, and these are described below:

Main Tool Bar
The main tool bar is situated above the display of gear items, and contains several controls. These controls allow you to perform the following operations:

• Hiding Items
• Showing Hidden items
• Restricting the Display of Items to a Particular Trip Type
• Creating a Printable Version of the Gear List
  

Profiles
A profile is a private set of gear items associated with a name. You can create a profile with any name, and then use that profile to create new, private gear items to augment the gear items from the public set of gear items. Profiles and the private gear items they contain are persistant, and can be viewed and manipulated in subsequent visits to the gear list page.

Private Gear Items
While using a profile, it is possible to view, create and delete any gear items associated with that profile. Gear items associated with a profile are also known as private gear items. These items are only visible while using that profile.
