The day is beautiful - warm, sunny, and a little breezy. We have lunch at one of the breezier points, at a lookout, because if we stop hiking for too long a large swarm of nasty insects likes to cloud around and annoy us.

We see a fair bit of smallish wildlife on our hike: beautiful butterflies, a large turtle, lots of small snakes, and a toad.

As mentioned earlier, the trail is a loop, which we did in the clockwise direction. The final segment of the trail climbs steeply up to bluffs directly above Whitefish Lake -- these, in my opinion, are the best lookouts and ridgewalking along the entire trail, and are a nice finale to a very pleasant hike. In mountain-hiking terms, I'd classify this as an easy-to-moderate hike (and if you look at the hike data on the last page, you'll see it took us less than 4 hours to hike, whereas the park's guide warns us to allow 6 hours). We hiked at a good clip but not excessively so.
