Another summit as we crest
On the summit of Lincoln, we re-encountered two lively guys that we'd met earlier on the way up : Dave and Roger. Dave had taken a liking to jumping off a crag near the summit into some nearby deep snow. Have a look at the pictures -- I captured a bunch of jumping shots!

I especially enjoyed the walk from Lincoln to Lafayette, the next summit to the North. There was a lot more snow on this section, which I found gave a more alpine feel. Also, the snow was firm and good for walking. In fact, I picked a path far away from everyone else's footsteps, and enjoyed a wonderful long walk across perfect boot-stepping snow. Excellent views to the Presidentials to the east and the Kinsmans and Cannon to the west topped it all off. This is what it's all about!
Much snowier from here on

The Presidentials
It had been more than six years since I'd last done this section of Franconia Ridge. Back then, I had my trusty old Pentax K-1000 manual SLR with slide film, and I was always economical with film. With a modern digital SLR, I was free to snap picture after picture after picture. I took around 30 pictures back then -- and I took over 300 pictures on this hike! 300 pictures for one hike is quite a lot. More than usual, so you know it must have been a good one!
