From Unknown Pond, we took the Unknown Pond trail north down to Mill Brook Road, where we'd parked one of our vehicles. The trail down to the road was well-beaten, and for the most part not very rough, and was at a good, moderate gradient. We made excellent time. Down low, we returned to the world of leafy trees and were treated to some delightful, if somewhat muted, fall colors. We arrived at the northern terminus of our journey just before 10am.

An overview of our journey

We ferried Ewart around to pick up his car at the other trailhead, and then we parted ways, with Ewart heading off to do Killington Mountain in Vermont, and Jenn and I heading home for a Thanksgiving dinner. While this wasn't the most scenic route, our traverse of the Pilot and Pliny ranges was still fun, memorable, and challenging. The Cabot cabin is a great place to spend the night, and it's free, too!
