Saddleback Mountain is one of the peaks comprising the 'Great Range'. It is not as high as its immediate neighbours, and does not have as spectacular a summit, but is still interesting. Saddleback does have a ledge on its summit that faces west, giving good views of Basin and peaks further west. Saddleback also sports one of the trickiest bits of official trail in the entire High Peaks region: the final bit of trail leading up to the summit from the west is more of a climb than a hike.
