The May 2005 Long weekend saw Jennifer and myself visit my parents in Bathurst New Brunswick. While there, we visited two parks: Kouchibouguac National Park, a coastal lowlands park, and Mt Carleton Provincial Park, an appalachian mountains park in the north-central highlands of the province.
Did we get nice weather? in a word, no. In fact, some days it rained continously for the entire day.
After the rainy outing at Kouchibouguac, we returned home for a delicious Italian meal. Dolores and Alphonse (my brother) joined us. The following are a smattering of pictures from the dinner.
Fortunately, our day at Carleton Provincial Park turned out to be non-rainy. It was cloudy, and the clouds were low, but after the semi-torrential rains of the previous days, clouds and no rain seemed just fine. On the plus side, there was absolute solitude and we saw not a soul. The downsides? Low clouds meant no views, and the park has a farily large amount of trash lying about, along with a good helping of vandalism, and graffiti. Just hike the main Mt. Carleton trail and have a look at the fire tower - you'll see what I mean.
